Santa Clara, California-based Cohesity, a provider of converged secondary storage, has named Riccardo Di Blasio as COO and head of field operations. Previously, Di Blasio was the senior vice president of vCloud hybrid services at VMware. Cohesity’s backers include Sequoia Capital, Wing Venture Capital, ARTIS Ventures, Google Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Accel Partners, Battery Ventures and Trinity Ventures.

Cloud security automation company HyTrust picks up $33 mln

Mountain View, California-based cloud security automation company HyTrust Inc has raised $33 million in funding. Accelerate-IT Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Vanedge Capital, Epic Ventures, Granite Ventures, Trident Capital, Cisco, Fortinet, Intel Corp and VMware. In addition to the funding, HyTrust has added Brian Nugent, a general partner at AITV, to its board of directors while AITV co-founder and General Partner Bill Malloy III, and Moe Kermani, a partner at Vanedge Capital, have been named as board observers.

Puppet Labs raises $40 mln from venture backers

Cisco, Google Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Triangle Venture Capital Group, True Ventures and VMware have invested $40 million in Puppet Labs, which provides IT automation software. The funding brings total venture capital raised to $86 million since June 2009. Puppet Labs also added Mukesh Sharma as vice president of sales, EMEA.

Redpoint Adds Two EIRs From VMware

Redpoint Ventures brought on two VMware executives as entrepreneurs in residence, TechCrunch reports. Javier Soltero was CTO of SaaS & application services at VMware before joining the firm, according to a bio posted on the Redpoint Web site. He came to VMware after the company he co-founded, Hyperic, was acquired by SpringSource, which was acquired by VMware.

VMware Buys Systems-Monitoring Startup Integrien for $100M

(VentureBeat) — Virtualization giant VMware announced today that it has acquired an IT analytics startup called Integrien for $100 million.

Irvine, Calif.-based Integrien offers systems monitoring software, similar to IBM’s Tivoli, with an emphasis on up-to-the-minute information about problems with your infrastructure. Microsoft’s Sidekick unit signed up as a customer to make sure it doesn’t have another outage like it did last fall. Itegrien was funded by Clearstone Venture Partners, Tech Coast Angels, Acartha Group, and Mariner Capital Ventures, most recently in an $8 million round announced in May.
