William Blair adds three financial advisors

William Blair & Co. said Monday that added three financial advisors to their Boston office. This includes Barbara J. Cummings, Robert H. Kjellman and Carl J. (C.J.) Young, along with investment resource associate Karen Eames. The executives join Blair’s Private Wealth Management Group from Boston Private Wealth LLC.


Lovell Minnick Partners invests in J.S. Held, which will merge with Held Enloe

Lovell Minnick Partners LLC has acquired a majority stake in J.S. Held LLC, a provider of outsourced consulting services for its insurance clients. No financial terms were disclosed. In addition to the investment, construction consulting firm Held Enloe & Associates LLC will merge with J.S. Held. Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC was financial advisor to J.S. Held and Held Enloe on the transaction while William Blair & Company LLC was financial advisor to Lovell Minnick.


Monomoy agrees to buy Cobra Electronics

Monomoy has agreed to acquire Cobra Electronics Corp. for $4.30 per share in cash. The deal is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year. William Blair & Co. served as financial advisor to Cobra Electronics while Houlihan Lokey provided financial advice to Monomoy. Based in Chicago, Cobra Electronics is a provider of communication and navigation products.


Chicago Growth Partners pulls plug on Fund III

Chicago Growth Partners has decided to stop raising its third private equity fund and instead will pursue a different structure to invest capital in small growth companies, according to a memo the firm sent to limited partners.


Madison Dearborn Invests in EVO Payments

Madison Dearborn Partners has acquired a minority stake in EVO Payments and will fund the company’s international expansion and additional growth initiatives. Financial terms were not disclosed. EVO, a privately-held payments processor, acquired PowerPay in December and Deutsche Card Services in November. Dan Daul of William Blair & Co. provided financial advice to EVO.

Trinity Hunit Sells Eating Recovery Center

Trinity Hunt Partners has sold its stake in Eating Recovery Center. The buyer is Lee Equity Partners, which acquired the holding via a recap. Financial terms were not announced. Denver-based Eating Recovery provides treatment for anorexia, bulimia, EDNOS and binge eating disorder. William Blair & Co. advised Eating Recovery.

SeraCare Life Sciences Strikes Linden Deal–UPDATED

Chicago-based private equity firm Linden Capital Partners struck a $4-per-share, $81 million deal to acquire SeraCare Life Sciences, the listed maker of products for human and animal diagnostics.
