DCM leads AnyPerk’s Series A round

AnyPerk announced it has raised $8.5 million in a Series A round that was led by DCM Ventures. Joining the round are Andreessen Horowitz; SV Angel; Y Combinator; Tony Hsieh and Zach Ware of Vegas Tech Fund; Tien Tzuo, CEO of Zuora; and Vayner RSE. As part of the funding, Osuke Honda, general partner of DCM Ventures, has joined the board. San Francisco-based AnyPerk, which helps companies of any size offer perks to its employees, previously raised $4.5 million in seed funding.


Meta raises $23 mln from Horizon, Draper, BOE, others

Meta said it raised $23 million in a Series A round led by Horizon Ventures, Tim Draper, BOE Optoelectronics and Y Combinator partners Garry Tan and Alexis Ohanian. Also participating in the deal were Danhua Capital, Commodore Partners and Zappos Founder Tony Hsiech’s  Vegas Tech Fund. Meta is developing augmented reality glasses.


Credit card startup Final snags $1 mln

Mountain View, California-based credit card startup Final has closed $1 million in seed funding. The investors included Ludlow Ventures, T5 Capital Partners and Y ­Combinator.


Sliced Investing pulls in $2 mln seed

Hedge fund start-up Sliced Investing has raised $2 million in seed funding. the firm announced in a blog post on its site. The investors included Khosla Ventures, Triple Point Capital, Data Collective and Y Combinator. Zen99 rakes in nearly $2.5 mln seed

Zen99 has raised nearly $2.5 million in seed funding. The investors included Upside Partnership, Collaborative Fund, Y Combinator, SV Angel and CrunchFund. Based in San Francisco, Zen99 is a provider of tax and insurance tools for independent workers.


VC-backed Meteor buys database startup FathomDB

According to a blog post on its site, Meteor, an open-source platform for building web apps, has acquired database startup FathomDB. No financial terms were disclosed. Also, Justin Santa Barbara, the creator of FathomDB, will join Meteor’s team to lead its real-time data efforts. FathomDB was seeded by Y Combinator. Helion Energy bags $1.5 mln

Helion Energy has secured $1.5 million in funding from Mithril Capital Management and Y Combinator, its CEO David Kirtley confirmed. Based in Redmond, Wash., Helion Energy is a developer of advanced power generation technology.


Translation service Unbabel raises funds

Unbabel has raised $1.5 million in funding from venture capital firms and angel investors, including Jared Fliesler of Matrix Partners, Kevin Rose of Google Ventures and others. Unbabel is a Y Combinator company that offers translation services.


Charles River Ventures leads $2 mln round for bop.fm

Digital music startup bop.fm has closed $2 million in funding. Charles River Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included SV Angel, Y Combinator, FundersClub, Lew Moorman, president of Rackspace and Tom Ryan, former head of digital at EMI.


Publishing startup Tablo books $400K

Tablo, an online publishing community, said Thursday that it has received $400,000 in seed funding. The investors include Paul Reining, former CEO of Catch Group, Kevin Hale, a partner at Y Combinator and author John Buck. Also, Reining is joining the company as a director and advisor.


BlockScore attracts $2 mln seed funds

BlockScore said Thursday that it has secured $2 million in seed funding. The investors included Battery Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, New Atlantic Ventures, Boost VC and Y Combinator. The capital will be used for product development and sales expansion. BlockScore is a provider of ID verification and anti-fraud solutions for online businesses.

Box buys VC-backed cloud storage provider Streem

Data storage firm Box has acquired Streem, the latter confirmed in an announcement on its site. No financial terms were disclosed. Headquartered in San Francisco, Streem is a provider of unlimited cloud storage solutions. Andreessen Horowitz leads Series B round for Instacart

Instacart, an on-demand grocery service, has received $44 million in Series B funding. Andreessen Horowitz led the round with participation from previous backers Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures and Canaan Partners. Also, Box CEO Aaron Levie and Y Combinator President Sam Altman made personal investments.


Weave raises Series A from Conway’s new firm

Weave, which provides telecom services to small and medium-sized businesses, has raised $5 million in Series A funding. A Capital, the early-stage firm newly launched by Ronny Conway, who left Andreessen Horowitz last year to raise a fund, led Weave’s financing. Homebrew, Fuel Capital, SV Angel, Y Combinator and Initialized Capital also joined the round. Pleasant Grove, Utah-based Weave was launched with seed-stage funding from Y Combinator earlier this year.


Move Loot snags $2.8 mln seed funds

Move Loot said Monday that it has secured $2.8 million in seed funding. First Round Capital and Index Ventures led the round with participation from Google Ventures, SV Angel and Y Combinator. Based in San Francisco, Moot Loot helps users buy and sell used furniture online.
