TD Ameritrade appoints StarVest’s Bettino to board

Online broker TD Ameritrade has added Larry Bettino and Todd Ricketts to its board of directors. Bettino is a managing member of StarVest Partners and Ricketts is a director of Chicago Baseball Holding, the holding company for the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball franchise. Bettino’s appointment is effective immediately while Ricketts will begin on January 1, 2015.


OMAHA, Neb.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation (NYSE: AMTD) today announces two new appointments to its board of directors.

Larry Bettino will join the TD Ameritrade board of directors effective immediately as a Class III Independent Director, filling a current vacancy on the board. Bettino brings more than 25 years of technology-focused, venture capital and private equity investing experience to the position. For the last seven years, he has been a managing member of StarVest Partners, LLC, a firm focused on investing in high-growth technology-based businesses.

Over his career Bettino has achieved a unique combination of technological and financial expertise working with firms such as IBM, Dillon Read Venture Capital, Baker Capital, Warburg Pincus and in his current role with StarVest Partners. He has significant experience in the technology areas of software, cloud-based computing, data management, application development, social media and mobility. His functional expertise has included business plan development, sales and marketing, pricing strategy, and business processes and workflow.

He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Master’s of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Additionally, Todd Ricketts will join the TD Ameritrade board of directors effective Jan. 1, 2015 as the designee of the Ricketts family, per the terms of the Company’s stockholders agreement. Ricketts, who previously served on the board from October 2011 to February 2014, will fill the seat held by brother Pete Ricketts, who has announced his intention to step down from the board effective Dec. 31, 2014 to focus on his term as Governor Elect for the State of Nebraska.

Todd Ricketts is a director of Chicago Baseball Holding LLC, the holding company for the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball franchise, and a leader for Chicago Cubs Charities. He serves on the boards of World Bicycle Relief, the National World War II Museum, Opportunity Education and Off-Site, LLC. He is active with a number of charitable organizations, including Project Run America, Housing Opportunities for Women and the dZi Foundation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Loyola University Chicago.
