Trident Capital, a firm focused on software, Internet and business services companies, has named Michael Derrick vice president for finance. Trident also announced the hiring of three associates, Andy Cao, Feng Hong and Will Lin.

Trident Capital, a leading venture and growth equity firm focused on software, Internet and business services companies, today announced that Michael Derrick has joined the firm as its new Vice President, Finance, heading up the firm’s Finance organization. Trident also announced the hiring of three associates, Andy Cao, Feng Hong and Will Lin, who will add depth to the firm’s investment team and further advance the firm’s growth equity strategy.
Michael Derrick joins Trident from Thomas Weisel Partners where he held the role of chief financial officer for their private equity funds. He joins Trident with over 18 years of experience in fund accounting, fund administration and in-house roles with private equity, hedge funds and fund-of-fund firms. Prior to Thomas Weisel Partners, Derrick opened and ran the San Francisco office of Mourant Fund Services, a finance and accounting outsourcer for private equity and financial services firms, spent a number of years at the investment firms Trust Company of the West in Los Angeles and Apax Partners in London, and before that practiced at Ernst & Young. Originally from the UK, Derrick holds a bachelor of science degree from Manchester University in England.

Andy Cao, Feng Hong and William Lin join Trident as associates. Cao previously worked as an analyst in Citigroup’s Global Banking division. He holds bachelor of science degrees from the Wharton School and the School of Engineering of the University of Pennsylvania.
Feng Hong was most recently an associate at Gridley & Company, where he conducted the firm’s eCommerce and mobile sector outreach. He also supported buy-side and sell-side digital media and information services projects. Hong was previously an analyst at Credit Suisse, where he was involved with strategic analyses and valuation benchmarking for public company change in control transactions. He has a bachelor of science degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
William Lin joins Trident Capital from the investment banking group at Citibank, where he was an analyst in the financial and technology sectors. He worked on high-profile initial public offerings such as AIG, GoPro and Facebook. Lin holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
