UBI Banca has made an investment in Green Arrow Capital, an independent Italian operator in the alternative investment sector. No financial terms were disclosed.
Milan, 22nd June 2020 – UBI Banca has subscribed 5% of the capital of Green Arrow Capital SpA. UBI Banca’s entry took place through a reserved capital increase.
The transaction is aimed at boosting Green Arrow Capital’s resources with institutional capital in order to be able to seize any opportunities for consolidation in the private equity and private debt sectors.
Green Arrow Capital also has new funds on the launch ramp that will invest in the most productive areas in the region, initially through GAC’s Private Debt division followed by that of Private Equity. Through a tenth fund, among the largest in terms of deposit targets, it will also be possible to increase investments in large works of public interest in areas of real need for the country.
Eugenio de Blasio, founder and CEO of Green Arrow Capital, commented: “We are very pleased to have one of the largest Italian banks become a shareholder in our company, especially since it is one of the top players in the business, something that we have in common. It’s a transaction that makes us particularly proud, also because of its exceptional nature. It was something that we really wanted to do and so we were able to get it done despite the country’s lockdown, a strong sign of optimism in a time of global uncertainty. And we’re sure that the operation will be greatly appreciated by our investors”.
Luisa Todini, Partner and Chairwoman of Green Arrow Capital added: “Today we occupy a unique position in the alternative investment landscape. We’ve been able to grow rapidly thanks to our skills, the combination of our expertise, professionalism, transparency, governance and innovation, not to mention our proximity and attention to customers, companies and investors. And the arrival of a partner of excellence that believes in our mission will only give new impetus to our leadership”.
Vincenzo De Falco, Head of Investment Banking at UBI Banca remarked: “We found a high quality team at GAC, with an interesting growth project and a multi-compartment investment strategy consistent with our objectives of increasing equity exposure in diverse investment platforms that care about sustainability”.
On the UBI Banca side the transaction was managed by Massimo Vuillermin, who in the Corporate & Investment Banking area follows investments in Private Equity, assisted by the legal and internal M&A team, while the Green Arrow Capital side was handled by Carmelo Recupero, General Counsel of GAC, and by Legislab through its Managing Partner Piergiorgio Mancone.
