PRESS RELEASE
LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ScoreBig.com, the live entertainment industry’s first online marketplace for the safe and secure liquidation of unsold ticket inventory, today announced the addition of new senior level executives to support the company’s rapid growth and market leadership. The company has named David Marcus as senior vice president, partnerships and Eric Wilson as vice president, technology and product.
“We’ve had tremendous success in building long-term partnerships with premier live entertainment properties as we focus on solving two of the biggest issues facing live entertainment – large scale unsold inventory and the decreasing affordability of live entertainment for the general consumer market”
The expansion of ScoreBig.com’s leadership team reflects the company’s accelerated growth and momentum. In 2012, ScoreBig.com experienced over 600% revenue growth, and was recognized for significant achievements including being named one of the 10 Most Innovative Start-ups of 2012 by Billboard Magazine.
“We’ve had tremendous success in building long-term partnerships with premier live entertainment properties as we focus on solving two of the biggest issues facing live entertainment – large scale unsold inventory and the decreasing affordability of live entertainment for the general consumer market,” said Adam Kanner, ScoreBig.com CEO. “ScoreBig has created a unique solution that bridges these two problems in a manner that is protective of our partners’ brands and full-price sales. Adding David and Eric to our management team underscores our commitment to our partners and to our customers that ScoreBig will continue to be a leader and innovator within the industry and provide value unavailable through other channels.”
In his role as SVP, partnerships, David Marcus will bring to bear his significant experience developing and leading transformative business initiatives and major partnerships for companies in live entertainment and digital media. As Warner Music Group’s SVP, Worldwide Artist Services, Marcus had direct oversight for WMG’s transformation from multinational record company to global music entertainment company and was responsible for leadership and development of new areas of business including ticketing, e-commerce, merchandising and global touring. Previously, Marcus was SVP, Music at Ticketmaster, LLC, where he built and led an international team that provided sales and marketing, strategy and operational support for hundreds of the world’s largest touring music artists.
“I’m passionate about building great teams focused on solving challenging problems in the entertainment industry, and I look forward to joining the standout entrepreneurial team at ScoreBig,” said Marcus. “They are solving the live entertainment industry’s biggest challenge in an extremely innovative way and, in the process, are building a market-transforming company.”
Eric Wilson has more than 20 years experience in software engineering and has held senior management positions at some of the industry’s most successful and fast-moving startups. He has been at the leading edge of web, mobile and big data before they were fashionable. Prior to joining ScoreBig.com, Eric served as CTO of Sidebar, a massively scalable discovery and recommendation platform based on machine learning and big data, a role he took on after departing GoTV Networks, the first made-for-mobile video company, where he was CTO. Earlier in his career, Eric was a founding member and VP of infrastructure at JAMDAT Mobile, now EA Mobile, as well as a founding engineer at Citysearch.
“I feel fortunate to have played an important part in scaling some great technology businesses from startup to market leadership and am excited to start that journey with ScoreBig, where we are transforming an industry and defining a new, massive market,” said Wilson. “In my mind, there’s nothing more exciting than joining a winning team and helping to take it to even greater success.”
ScoreBig.com’s growth trajectory continues into 2013 with new partnerships and the launch of its Loyalty Rewards Platform to provide live entertainment ticket distribution to the loyalty industry. In conjunction with the Loyalty Platform launch, ScoreBig.com signed a multi-year agreement to become the live entertainment ticketing partner for United Airlines MileagePlus® program, a milestone in enhancing its product offering and dramatically expanding the firm’s distribution and brand among consumers. The alliance is designed to help venue and team partners reach tens of millions of new consumers and move unsold inventory in a brand-protected manner. This is the first of many strategic partnerships that ScoreBig.com is targeting in the loyalty, affinity and credit card industry as it continues to rapidly expand its consumer reach.
