San Francisco-based mobile advertising startup Tapjoy has named Jim Jones as vice president and general manager of sales. Jones served most recently as America’s Regional Vice President at Yahoo Inc. Earlier in his career, Jones was the regional vice president of west coast sales for CNET Networks. Tapjoy is backed by investors including J.P.Morgan Asset Management, Rho Ventures, North Bridge Venture Partners, InterWest Partners and D.E. Shaw Ventures.
As it continues to round out its management team and key executive staff, Tapjoy, Inc. Jones joins other recent hires including Chief Marketing Officer Peter Dille, Chief Financial Officer Al Wood, and Vice President and General Manager, Asia-Pacific, Larry Berkin.
With more than 20 years of sales and business development experience in the media, technology and mobile arenas, Jones brings to Tapjoy strong connections within the advertising and agency world and an exceptional reputation for driving strategic, high-value partnerships. Jones developed and initiated the global representation model for Yahoo! and helped scale the business unit’s revenue from $200 Million to $350 Million.

Prior to Yahoo!, Jones was the Regional Vice President of West Coast Sales for CNET Networks, a leading source of technology and consumer electronics news and information. At CNET Networks, Jones led the West Coast Sales and Account Management team and helped develop, train and mentor a team of 45 people. He also served as the Southwest Region Sales Director for Ziff-Davis Publishing, where he was responsible for top tier accounts such as Toshiba, Gateway, Intuit and other leading technology brands.
