Google Ventures Ends 2012 Investing in Nine Deals in December

Google Ventures stood atop the most active list of U.S.-based VC investors in December, as it announced it invested a combined $24 million in nine startups during the month.

The list of deals included Adelphic Inc., ZenPayroll Inc. and 23andMe Inc., the latter of which is a genomics startup co-founded by Anne Wojcicki, wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

New Enterprise Associates ranked as the second most active investor, investing in eight companies in December, inluding 23andMe, according to data by Thomson Reuters.

During the month, NEA and General Catalyst Partners were each heavy investors during the month. NEA invested more than $36 million into eight companie, while General Catalyst invested more than $36 million into four deals.
