PRESS RELEASE:
Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS), a private equity and debt capital fund management company dedicated to investing in the information, education, media, communications and business services industries in North America and Europe, today announced the addition of James J. Dunleavy to its senior lending team as Managing Director.
VSS provides flexible debt capital, including senior and subordinated debt, to small and middle-market companies in growing industries the firm targets for investments. Mr. Dunleavy, who has more than 30 years of professional experience — predominantly in mid-market lending roles — will seek to secure loan opportunities for VSS, working primarily in the area of debt capital.
Mr. Dunleavy will work closely with Bill Archer, Partner, VSS Debt Capital, who joined the firm in 2010 to head up and build its senior lending activities. Mr. Archer previously served as Chief Debt Underwriter at Goldman Sachs and Chief Credit Officer at Bankers Trust Company.
“Jim has been known to VSS for many years, and he commands a great deal of respect within the media and communications industries,” said Archer. “Jim will greatly enhance our ability to identify additional loan opportunities and provide capital to our target industry sectors.”
Dunleavy has held senior-level positions at Merrill Lynch Capital and IBJ Whitehall, with responsibilities that included developing, underwriting and monitoring middle-market loan opportunities involving media and communications companies. He is a graduate of St. Francis College, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and holds a Master’s degree in Finance from New York University.
“I was attracted to the firm because of VSS’s strong reputation as a mid-market investor and its focused acquisition and operational strategies,” said Dunleavy. “I look forward to expanding the firm’s capabilities and driving business opportunities for VSS in the debt capital arena.”
“For over 30 years, VSS has supported the development of small- and middle-market companies, and, as a result, we have a deep understanding of the complex issues and financing needs these businesses face,” said Jeffrey Stevenson, Managing Partner at Veronis Suhler Stevenson. “Access to a wide range of flexible debt capital solutions is key to their continued growth, and we are here to support them.”
