WAMEX Private Equity Raises $160 Mln with Fund II

WAMEX Private Equity said Wednesday that it closed its second growth equity fund at $160 million. Mexico City-based WAMEX says its the first manager to raise institutional funding from mexican pension funds via a publicly listed CKD vehicle. WAMEX says it has invested 40% of fund II in three mexican companies: Hoteles CityExpress (budget hotels), HDS (healthcare IT) and Water Capital (sustainable solutions financing).

Mexico City based WAMEX Private Equity announced the final closing of its second growth equity fund MIF II at US$ 160 million. WAMEX was the first manager to raise institutional funding from mexican pension funds via a publicly listed CKD vehicle, and raised additional commitments for MIF II through a parallel partnership.

WAMEX has already invested 40% of MIF II commitments in three mexican companies: Hoteles CityExpress (budget hotels), HDS (healthcare IT) and Water Capital (sustainable solutions financing).

Abril 25, 2012 – WAMEX Private Equity, empresa administradora de fondos de capital privado, anunció el cierre final de su segundo fondo MIF II, por un total de $160 millones de dólares, con recursos de inversionistas institucionales mexicanos a través de Certificados de Capital de Desarrollo (CKD) y sumando también compromisos de otros inversionistas particulares. WAMEX fue el primer administrador de fondos en levantar recursos a través de CKD.
“Nos sentimos satisfechos de haber excedido nuestra meta de recursos en un ambiente difícil a nivel mundial para levantar fondos. Nuestro país ofrece excelente potencial para empresas en crecimiento y estamos evaluando varios proyectos para continuar invirtiendo”, declaró Ernesto Warnholtz, Socio Director.
A la fecha WAMEX ha invertido 40% de los compromisos de MIF II en tres empresas mexicanas líderes: Hoteles City Express (hoteles de bajo costo), HDS (sistemas de información para el sector salud) y Water Capital (soluciones sustentables integrales).
