Waud Capital Partners has hired Phil Olson as principal of business development. Prior to joining the firm, Olson worked at William Blair & Co where he served as a managing director.
CHICAGO December 14, 2016 – Waud Capital Partners (“Waud Capital” or “the Firm”), a leading growth-oriented lower middle-market private equity firm with $2.1 billion under management, announces the appointment of Phil Olson as Principal – Business Development, effective immediately. Mr. Olson is the initial member of the Firm’s Business Development group and increases the Waud Capital team to 27 investment and finance professionals, three operating partners and one executive partner. Based in Chicago, Mr. Olson will focus on identifying investment opportunities within the Firm’s business and technology services vertical.
Mr. Olson brings more than 15 years of investment banking experience in technology and technology-enabled business services. Previously, he served as a Managing Director at William Blair & Co., where he focused on technology, and more specifically, financial technology, payments, technology-enabled business models and vertical software businesses. Throughout his career, Mr. Olson has completed more than 100 technology and business services-related transactions. He began his career as an analyst at Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Olson graduated with high honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Finance and holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
