Boston-based Webster Capital has added Robert Long as a senior general partner. Long worked previously to build a senior and mezzanine debt business for Allied Capital, which merged into Ares Capital in April 2010. Earlier in his career, Long worked for Montgomery Securities/Banc of America Securities and Nomura Securities.
Webster Capital is pleased to announce that Robert Long has joined the firm as a Senior General Partner and member of the investment committee. Rob brings to Webster a wealth of direct investing experience in both control equity and private debt financing. Rob will expand Webster Capital’s ability to originate and lead buyouts of growing middle market companies in the consumer, healthcare, and business services sectors.
“Over the past five years, we have worked with Rob as an investor and member of our Advisory Board, and as a significant co-investor and financing source for our successful Comfort Keepers transaction,” says Don Steiner, founder and Managing Partner of Webster Capital. “Rob is well known in the middle market community for creating innovative financing structures and launching and overseeing several successful middle market private capital funds.”
During the last ten years Rob built a successful senior and mezzanine debt business for Allied Capital which was merged into Ares Capital in April 2010. Rob then helped to execute the sale and transition of this portfolio including the GE Senior Secured Loan Program to Ares Capital in 2010. Through Rob’s extensive relationships, Webster will benefit from enhanced deal flow and a broader network of financing and diligence resources. He will also help Webster continue to focus on best of class execution standards.
Rob’s experience also includes forming and managing the origination efforts of Allied Capital, including building its New York office, and he was a key team member in direct investments in over $2.0 billion of middle market private debt and equity transactions. Earlier in his career Rob was a Partner at Montgomery Securities/Banc of America Securities, Head of Investment Banking and Merchant Banking for Nomura Securities in the Americas, and was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston, where he began his career and spent fourteen years in equities, high yield, and merchant banking.
