WhiteHat Security, a leading provider of website security services, today announced that it has secured $7 million in Series D financing. The round was led by new investor Horizon Ventures, and existing backers Altos Ventures, Garage Technology Ventures and Startup Capital Ventures. WhiteHat Security will use the monies to fund new product development and sales and marketing efforts, as well as to expand its infrastructure to address the demands of a rapidly growing market for Web application security solutions.
Websites are constantly at risk from evolving attack methods. As the bad guys find new and innovative ways to infiltrate websites, companies need to implement effective methods of protecting the information housed on them. WhiteHat Sentinel is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering combining proprietary scanning technology with customization, configuration and verification by Web application security experts. Sentinel is the most comprehensive, highly scalable and efficient solution for identifying, managing and mitigating website vulnerabilities for companies of any size. In addition, WhiteHat's Education Services division provides hands-on, practical training to corporate security and software development teams to increase understanding of the website security issues that they face.
“We've all seen the increasing statistics related to website attacks and data breaches,” said John Hall, managing director of Horizon Ventures and member of WhiteHat Security's board of directors. “WhiteHat Security is on the forefront of addressing website security needs with its advanced SaaS technology platform, expert team and cutting-edge research. Their growing partner and customer base, coupled with their overall market momentum, puts them in an incredible position as an innovator in the website security industry. Horizon Ventures is delighted to be a WhiteHat investor and to collaborate with their management team on continued success.”
“Because of the prevalence of Web-based attacks, the demand for Web application security is growing rapidly. Additionally, regulatory compliance standards such as PCI 6.6, which goes into effect at the end of this month, are contributing to the widespread customer adoption of website security solutions,” said Stephanie Fohn, chief executive officer, WhiteHat Security. “This new round of funding will help us meet that demand, continue to grow our business and further solidify our leadership position in the industry.”
WhiteHat Sentinel is currently available in two service levels, Standard Edition (SE) and Premium Edition (PE), for an annual subscription fee with tiered pricing based on the number of Web applications. Contact the WhiteHat sales office at (408) 343-8300 for more information.
