The Chicago-based insurance broker Willis North America has hired William Monat as a senior placement specialist. Monat has worked previously for Equity Risk Partners, Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP and Aon Corporation.

Willis North America, a unit of Willis Group Holdings, the global insurance broker with operations in Chicago, today announced the appointment of William “Bill” Monat as Senior Placement Specialist, Transactional Solutions Products, National Mergers & Acquisitions Practice, effective immediately.
Willis is a leading insurance broker that provides employee benefits and risk management solutions across a wide range of industries. The Willis National Mergers & Acquisitions Practice (M&A) works with over 350 different alternative asset funds around the world and supports the network of Willis customers involved in a merger or acquisition. The North American Team has participated in over 5,000 M&A transactions and provides a host of services surrounding risk management and insurance including pre-closing due diligence, transactional insurance products, portfolio insurance purchasing arrangements, and fund liability.
In this role, Mr. Monat will lead the Practice’s efforts to deliver transactional, insurance solutions focused on risks resulting from a merger or acquisition for both financial and strategic buyers and sellers. He will be responsible for building a broader awareness of the M&A Practice brand and scaling the business in the area of transactional solution products. Mr. Monat, who resides in Clarendon Hills, IL, will report to Mark Rusas, Executive VP, Mergers & Acquisitions National Practice Leader, Willis North America.
Mr. Monat comes to Willis with more than 24 years of experience in this sector, 12 of which he spent in the insurance industry and the other 12 in law. He has held leadership roles at Equity Risk Partners, Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP and Aon Corporation.
