Venture-backed wind flow modeling business WindSim has appointed John Olaf Romma as new Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2013. Founded in 1993, WindSim has offices and partners in Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Greece, India, Italy, Korea, Norway, Serbia, Spain, Turkey and USA.
WindSim AS, a global leader in wind flow modeling, today announced that John Olaf Romma has been appointed as new Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2013. The appointment of Mr. Romma, a leading technical software executive, signals a renewed focus on product innovation to drive user experience and revenue for one of the world’s known wind flow modeling brands.
Romma said, “I am excited to join WindSim AS at such an opportune time in its history. The company has an impressive depth of talent and capabilities, a very strong client base, and a wide-open market. My goals will be to build on these strengths, drive revenue growth in our existing markets, and build commercial success in a range of new service areas and markets.”
Mr. Romma brings over 10 years of executive leadership experience from the high-growth technology industry. He previously served as Executive Vice President in SPT Group. SPT Group is a leader in dynamic modeling of multiphase flow and reservoir optimization through renowned software products and a global team of professionals. SPT Group was acquired by Schlumberger in 2012.

Mr. Romma joined WindSim AS in 2010 as Chief Operational Officer, and will formerly take the position as CEO from January 1, 2013. The current CEO and founder, Dr. Arne Gravdahl, will take the position as Chief Technical Officer.

Mr. Romma earned a M.Sc. from NTNU in Trondheim Norway in 1993.
