XMOS adds strategic investors to $26 mln financing round

XMOS has completed a $26.2 million Series D round. Strategic investors joining the round included Robert Bosch Venture Capital of Germany, Huawei Technologies, a global information and communications technology solutions provider and Xilinx Technology Ventures, the investment arm of Silicon Valley-based Xilinx.

XMOS is a fabless semiconductor company. Fabless manufacturing is the design and sale of hardware devices and semiconductor chips while outsourcing the fabrication or “fab” of the devices to a specialized manufacturer called a semiconductor foundry.

Existing investors participating in the round were Amadeus Capital Partners, DFJ Esprit and Foundation Capital.

XMOS will use the funding to extend its reach in multicore technology for embedded applications by expanding customer support and accelerating new product development.

Hongquan Jiang from Robert Bosch will be joining the XMOS board of directors.

XMOS is headquartered in Bristol, UK with a development center in Chennai, India and sales offices and distributors worldwide.
