Z Wireless has acquired most of the stores from The Wireless Center and Select Communications. Founded in 2001, Z Wireless was backed by Atlantic Street Capital in 2011.
PRESS RELEASE
Z Wireless, a leading Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer, announced today that it has acquired most of the stores from The Wireless Center, Inc. (TWC) and Select Communications, Inc., to create one of the largest third party retailers of Verizon Wireless products and services in the U.S., with nearly 300 retail locations.
TWC, headquartered in Independence, OH, and Select Communications, based in Plymouth, MN, market and sell a full suite of Verizon Wireless products and services. Z Wireless is acquiring 84 TWC stores operating in OH, MI, PA, WV, and KY. Select operates 47 stores throughout AL, IA, MN, MS, ND, and WI.
Kevin Tupy, Chief Executive Officer of Z Wireless, said, “Prior to these acquisitions, Z Wireless operated primarily throughout the Great Plains region. As a result of adding these stores, we have now established strong footholds in new geographic regions that allow for further expansion in attractive new markets. Both acquisitions further our strategy of building our presence in rural and suburban markets in the center of the country. The addition of the retail operations of these two leading companies propels Z Wireless to gain leading market share in Ohio, as well as important competitive positions in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia.”
Founded in 2001, Z Wireless has grown beyond its original operations in the Great Plains region since its acquisition by private investment firm Atlantic Street Capital in 2011. In 2012 the company also acquired 12 retail locations in Kansas from T2 Wireless Inc. and 13 retail locations in Missouri from Davis Cellular.
Terms of the transactions were not released.
