PRESS RELEASE
Daniel R. Zimmermann has joined Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP as a partner in its Venture Technology Group, the global law firm announced today. Zimmermann will be resident in Sonnenschein’s Silicon Valley office, located in Palo Alto. His practice focuses on the representation of significant, high quality U.S.-based technology companies with U.S. venture backing and key international business, as well as foreign issuers with inbound U.S. business. Zimmermann is the second partner to join the group here in the past month, following Craig A. Menden, who started at the firm on March 31.
“The international aspect of Dan’s practice, including his focus on overseas funds, helps to solidify a key component of our venture practice,” said Victor H. Boyajian, national chair of Sonnenschein’s Venture Technology Group. “Dan’s expertise adds another critical competitive differentiator to our practice mix globally as we continue to expand our Silicon Valley office and our client base in the technology and life sciences sectors.”
Zimmermann has extensive experience with global expansions and offshore acquisitions by U.S. companies. He also regularly advises non-U.S. investors and acquirers with their transactions in the United States, particularly with respect to California-based technology companies. He recently spent time on loan at a London-based European law firm, working on private equity, capital markets and venture capital transactions.
“With its offices in Europe and an international reach stretching to Asia, Sonnenschein is well positioned for continued global expansion of its venture work,” said Zimmermann. “The firm’s growing presence in Silicon Valley will be a very positive development for my overseas clients.”
Zimmermann received an LL.M. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. He received a pre-diploma in law from the Free University of Berlin and later passed the First State Examination at the University of Freiburg (Germany) Law School.
