Euro News in Brief: –

In the midst of fighting off a GBP1 billion ($1.642 billion) hostile bid made by 3i in January (BUYOUTS Feb. 8, p. 21), Electra Investment Trust reportedly has been courting other potential suitors, many of which hail from the United States.

Firms such as Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., GE Capital Equity Capital Group, DLJ Merchant Banking Partners and The Blackstone Group all reportedly have been contacted by Electra and currently are mulling over potential bids of their own.

Electra reportedly is considering alternatives to a takeover, including the sale of some or all of its portfolio.
