The firm has secured more than $7 billion in commitments for Silver Lake Partners IV LP, according to Bloomberg News, citing two sources.

Other firms are adding to the total as well. For one, Sterling Investment Partners LP’s Sterling Investment Partners III LP has $231 million. The Westport, Conn.-based firm received capital commitments from 17 accredited investors. In addition, Huron Capital Partners LLC held the first and final close of its latest investment vehicle above the original goal of $400 million. The Detroit firm secured $500 million for Huron Fund IV LP.

Deal Volume

Thomson Reuters, the publisher of Buyouts, tracked 44 deals involving U.S.-based financial sponsors from Jan. 9 to 22. The five that reported financial terms combined for $446.9 million and brought the year-to-date deal volume to $925.9 million.

The largest deal during the latest period involved Platinum Equity LLC’s platform company BWAY Corp. It acquired Ropak Corp., a California-based maker of plastic containers, from LINPAC Group Ltd for about $265 million.
