On the move, 4.30.2018 – Mercury Capital Advisors names CFO

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Angeles Equity PartnersMartin Mumford joined as an operating partner and Jarret Rutstein as an associate.

Antares Capital appointed Timothy Lyne senior managing director and co-head of sponsor coverage. Vivek Mathew was named head of asset management and funding.

Blackstone named Yan Yan a managing director for the real estate team in Asia. She previously was president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer at SOHO China.

Blue Wolf Capital Partners named Jeremy Kogler a partner. Kogler joined Blue Wolf in 2010 and was previously a principal at the firm. Before Blue Wolf, Kogler was a multistrategy analyst for EnTrust Capital Partners.

Borgman CapitalDavid Bartelme joined the Milwaukee private equity firm as a managing director. Bartelme previously worked at Shell Oil‘s corporate M&A group.

Carlyle Group hired Taylor Boswell as managing director on the credit opportunities team. Taylor previously was managing director and investment-committee member in the illiquid opportunistic credit business at Apollo Global Management.

C5, the London tech-investment firm, appointed Christopher Cooke managing partner and head of investor relations. Cooke’s background includes a managing director’s post at Hycroft, HSBC and Greenhill & Co.

Credit Suisse Asset Management: The private fund group formed a directs and co-investments group. Imran Hameed joined the group as a director. Hameed was previously with Mercury Capital Advisors.

Fortino CapitalSteven De Troyer joined as investment director. De Troyer’s background includes tenures at the European investment firm Gimv as well as in the M&A departments of ING and UBS.

H.I.G. CapitalJeff Wiseman joined the real estate investment affiliate, H.I.G. Realty Partners, as managing director and head of U.S. real estate debt.

Halifax GroupDavid Bard joined as a managing director. Bard was previously a principal at American Securities.

Hunter Street Partners appointed three members to its inaugural advisory board: Steve Adams, senior distinguished fellow at University of St. Thomas School of Law and former partner and general counsel at Wayzata Investment PartnersVan Zandt Hawn, managing director at Goldner Hawn Johnson & Morrison; and Jeff Stolt, former partner and chief financial officer at Pine River Capital Management.

KKR plans to name David Haines executive chairman of the global spreads business. The appointment will become effective once KKR’s acquisition of Unilever’s global spreads business closes. Haines previously was chairman and CEO of Grohe Group.

Norwest Equity PartnersTony Armand joined as an operating partner. Armand most recently served as CEO of United Sports Brands.

Orion Energy Partners opened a Houston office after having partnered with five companies headquartered in the Gulf Coast region. Ethan Shoemaker, managing director who has worked at Orion since its inception in 2015, will lead the Houston office.

Paine Schwartz Partners: Rick Greubel joined as an operating director. Greubel is former president of Monsanto Brazil.

Pappas Capital, which invests in the life-sciences sector, named Thomas Mathers a partner. Mathers had been CEO of CoLucid Pharmaceuticals, which is backed by Pappas Capital.

Rand Capital: Erland Kailbourne was named chairman. Robert M. Zak remains vice chairman. The appointment follows the April 6 passing of Reginald B. Newman II, Rand’s chairman.

Salveo CapitalThomas Mazarakis joined as a managing partner. Mazarakis most recently was a managing director at Goldman Sachs in London, where he headed the fundamental strategies group.

Stonegate Capital named Heather LaFreniere a managing director for its Chicago office. She had worked at Silicon Valley Bank‘s technology banking group.

UBS Asset Management‘s real estate and private markets business appointed Perry Offutt head of infrastructure Americas. Prior to joining UBS-AM, Offutt was a managing director on the North American investment team at Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Dent Wizard International, the Bridgeton, Missouri, provider of automotive reconditioning services, promoted Mike Black to CEO from president and COO. Wizard is backed by Gridiron Capital.

Lyons Magnus, a portfolio company of Paine Schwartz Partners, appointed Ed Carolan CEO. Carolan previously was president of Campbell Soup’s Campbell Fresh.

PaysafeStuart Harvey Jr was named non-executive chairman. Harvey was most recently president and COO of Piper Jaffray. Paysafe is a portfolio company of Blackstone Group and CVC Capital Partners.

PDC Logic, a portfolio company of Intervale Capital, named Warren Dyer president and CEO. Dyer is former CEO of Ulterra Drilling Technologies.

Serenova, backed by Marlin Equity Partners, named Michelle Burrows chief marketing officer and David Nelson chief financial officer. Burrows is a former vice president of marketing and analytics at Comcast Business while Nelson was CFO of Periscope Holdings. Serenova is a contact-center-as-a-service and workforce-optimization provider.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Baird named Brett Skolnik a managing director on the global healthcare team. Skolnik had been managing director responsible for the healthcare M&A practice at BMO Capital Markets.

Diffblue named Jane Silber chairwoman. Silber was most recently CEO of Canonical.

Fiserv named Kim Crawford Goodman president of the card services unit. Goodman most recently served as CEO of Worldpay.

Galaxy Digital: Former macro hedge fund manager Mike Novogratz’s cryptocurrency merchant bank hired Richard Kim from Goldman Sachs Group as chief operating officer.

Goodwin added Scott Joachim and David Johanson to the law firm’s Silicon Valley office as partners in the PE and tech companies practices. Joachim and Johanson previously were partners at Fenwick & West. Joachim was founder and chair of Fenwick & West’s private equity practice.

Honigman named Norbert Knapke a partner in the law firm’s Chicago office. Knapke will serve as a member of the firm’s corporate department and PE group.  Knapke previously worked at Kirkland & Ellis.

Latham & WatkinsMichael Haas joined as a partner in the finance department and member of the real estate practice. Haas will serve as a global co-chair of Latham’s real estate practice. He is joining from Jones Day, where he co-led the real estate practice.

Lincoln International added an 11-member team in Stockholm. The additions include three partners — Björn ÅkerlundGunnar Brundin and John Hamilton — from Nordhaven, a corporate finance advisory firm.

Mercury Capital Advisors, a placement agent focused on alternative investments, named Reymundo Calcano chief financial officer. Calcano had headed finance and was a member of the executive committee at Brevan Howard US. He is a former senior finance manager at KKR.

RMB Capital, an independent investment and advisory firm with about $9.1 billion in AUM, named partner and managing director of asset Christopher Graff as the firm’s co-chief investment officer. Graff was a founding member of RMB’s investment committee.

PROMOTIONS

Alvarez & Marsal named Marc Liebman, managing director, to the post of co-head of the western region for its North American restructuring practice.

CenterGate Capital promoted Tim Liu to managing director. Liu’s background includes stints at H.I.G. Capital, Platinum Equity and Brentwood Associates.

Guardian Capital Partners promoted Adrian R. Ironside to partner. Ironside joined the PE firm in 2008 as a senior associate.

TSG Consumer Partners promoted Erik Johnson to principal. Johnson joined the consumer-focused PE firm in 2011.
