Early stage investment group New York Angels has teamed up with Ultra Light Startups, a community dedicated to fostering young tech companies. As part of the partnership, the three winners of Ultra Light’s monthly pitch contest will be given automatic bids to present to the New York Angels. In addition to the partnership, Ultra Light says it is expanding its work into Austin, Texas; Cleveland, Ohio; and Toronto.
Today, Ultra Light Startups, one of the largest and first communities dedicated to helping tech startups succeed, is announcing a strategic partnership with the New York Angels, New York’s largest angel investor network.
The partnership will grant three startups per month, the winners of Ultra Light’s monthly pitch contest, automatic bids to present to the New York Angels. It will also give New York Angels direct access to some the City’s most promising tech startups.
“With the dramatic increase in NY-based tech startups seeking angel investments, it’s becoming increasingly important to separate the viable businesses from the pack so they can be funded as quickly as possible.” said Brian Cohen, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors of New York Angels, “The winners of the Ultra Light Startup pitch contest are among the best I’ve seen in New York. I’m glad they’re coming to the New York Angels.”
Ultra Light is also announcing plans to expand beyond their existing locations in New York, NY and Boston, MA in to new markets, including Austin, TX, Cleveland, OH and Toronto, Canada. Last month, Ultra Light Startups hosted its biggest event yet, with over 200 attendees in New York (streaming success numbers?).
“I’m delighted the New York Angels will play a more significant role in the Ultra Light Startup community,” said Graham Lawlor, Founder of Ultra Light Startups. “We’re both committed to helping promising startups find opportunities to grow successful businesses.”
The next Ultra Light Startup event, Investor Feedback Forum and Pitch Showdown, is happening in New York City on Thursday, October 13, and will feature panelists from the city’s top angel investing groups, including the New York Angels, Half Moon Ventures and Kewpie Associates.
