BluWave, a private equity-focused advisory firm, today announced the appointment of Katie Marchetti as Managing Director. BluWave connects private equity firms and their portfolio companies with top due diligence and value creation resources via its proprietary, invitation-only network of specialists. Marchetti will initially focus on growth strategy and corporate development with new accounts and current clients.
A Nashville native, Marchetti joins BluWave from Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG), a global business consultancy firm, where she most recently served as Chief of Staff, coordinating the execution of strategic priorities with senior staff across the business. Prior to that role, she ran the firm’s Credit and Macro segments for all of Europe, Middle East and Africa from their London office. An attorney by trade, Marchetti previously practiced U.S. Securities Law on the capital markets team at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP. Marchetti holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame, a JD from the University of Tennessee College of Law and an LLM from King’s College London.
“What started as an entrepreneurial craze on my part in 2016 has grown into a substantial business that now serves the needs of over 350 private equity funds worldwide,” said BluWave founder and CEO Sean Mooney. “Katie is going to play an integral role in taking BluWave through our next growth phase, bringing her skills as both an organizational leader and a solutions-oriented thinker. In addition to her deep knowledge of capital markets, Katie’s experience and capabilities will strengthen our firm and will help nurture opportunities to maximize value for our clients.”
Mooney, a nearly 20-year veteran of the private equity industry, founded BluWave after continually experiencing the challenges and pitfalls associated with third-party resources. Prior to founding BluWave, he was a Partner and member of the Investment Committee of SFW Capital Partners, a leading middle market private equity firm in New York specializing in information, data, and network enabled businesses. Mooney has served on the Board of Directors of a variety of companies including SACHEM, AGDATA, MD Buyline, Spectro Scientific, Ampac Packaging, FTI, and Alpha Sintered Metals. Mooney holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and BSBA from Georgetown University.
“Joining BluWave was an important decision for me both personally and professionally,” remarked Marchetti. “Not only did my family and I decide to move ‘home’, but I get to be part of a company that is at a true growth inflection point—and one that is ultimately changing the way business in the private equity world is done. What Sean and his team have built is really remarkable, and I’m excited to be part of realizing the ultimate vision.”
Over the longer term, Marchetti will lead a firm effort to elevate BluWave as a key solution provider and resource for the private equity sector, portfolio companies, and any business that is going through a transformation or looking to create value and drive growth.
