Ottawa-based Shopify, an ecommerce platform used to create and power online stores, has acquired Select Start Studios, also based in Ottawa. The strategic acquisition will allow the company to execute its mobile growth strategy, and is its first major investment since raising $15 million in Series B funding in October 2011.
