Miso Media Closes $600,000 Seed Round Led By Google Ventures

Miso Media announced Friday $600,000 of seed financing led by Google Ventures.  The Los Angeles company created the Miso Music iOS iPad application for learning to play the guitar and ukulele. Angels Keith Rabois and Laura Ziskin, among others, participated in the round.

Los Angeles startup gears up to expand its music education software, Miso Music.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Dec 17th, 2010) – Miso Media, creators of the award winning Miso Music iOS
application, has announced seed financing led by Google Ventures.  Keith Rabois, Laura Ziskin, and
other angel investors also participated in the round.

Miso Music for iOS, winner of this year’s Peoples Choice Award at TechCrunch Disrupt SF, is an innovative approach to learning guitar and ukulele.  The patent-pending learning system uses cutting-edge note detection technology that listens for the correct note and delivers real time feedback.  Learning songs on the guitar has never been so easy.  Miso Music also comes equipped with a virtual guitar, ‘ukulele, bass, banjo, and mandolin.

The company plans to use this funding to expand and improve Miso Music.  Expect a larger library
of songs, a structured learning system, improved technology, and new software products for
different platforms and instruments.
