1Cast, a Kirkland, Wash.-based online video news aggregator, has raised an undisclosed amount of first-round funding led by Eagle River Holdings LLC.
Ushering in a new era in the distribution and consumption of news content, 1Cast today announced that it has secured an initial round of funding which was led by Eagle River Holdings, LLC. Expected to launch in the coming months, and working with major broadcast network partners, 1Cast will offer consumers unique and personalized on-demand newscasts featuring the best names in news from around the world.
“1Cast was created to address the simple fact that consumers today are overwhelmed with too much information which impedes their ability to find the information that is most relevant and interesting to them. The manner in which people consume media has been shifting since the advent of the Web. But broadcast television, one of the most effective means of conveying news, has largely been shut out, due to the perishable nature of TV news and the difficulty of distribution,” said Anthony Bontrager, President, 1Cast. “1Cast provides a real-time aggregation and delivery platform that enables consumers to get a worldview of the news that is important to them, and enables broadcasters and programmers to distribute their content in a way that preserves their brand integrity and adds additional revenue streams.”
With an executive team that hails from broadcast, media and telecommunications leaders such as Avid, Broadstream Communications, Clearwire, EDS, Fisher Communications, Fox Interactive Media, and NeXT Computing, 1Cast is poised to tap into the growth of broadband, the broad adoption of video, the need for broadcasters to re-distribute timely content, and the desire of advertisers to reach a highly targeted audience.
1Cast will launch a beta version of its product later this year. Interested parties can sign up for 1Cast's trial beta at www.1cast.com.
