John Kahan, general manager of business and customer intelligence for Microsoft’s Online Services Division, has joined its board of social targeting platform company 33Across Inc., the company announced. 33Across is backed by investors including Flybridge Capital.
33Across, the leading social targeting platform, announced today that John Kahan, General Manager of Business and Customer Intelligence for Microsoft’s Online Services Division, has joined its board of directors. Kahan becomes the second addition to 33Across’ board this year, joining Jon Karlen, Flybridge Capital General Partner.

John Kahan currently oversees Microsoft’s online customer data assets, analytics, marketing operations and its next generation Business and Customer Intelligence systems. Additionally, he runs international marketing operations for Bing and MSN worldwide…
Formerly, he was the World Wide General Manager for Microsoft’s Global Relationship Marketing Group within Corporate Marketing. During that time, he was responsible for Microsoft’s Customer Relationship Marketing efforts across all Microsoft businesses.
Mr. Kahan joined Microsoft from IBM, where he spent over 18 years in international marketing and sales, conducting programs in more than 60 countries. At IBM, Mr. Kahan was Vice President of Integrated Marketing Communication for the Sales and Distribution division, leading IBM’s customer-facing teams in marketing and brand activities around the globe. In his previous position, he was Director of IBM Global Direct Marketing, responsible for the go-to-market direct marketing model for all IBM business units worldwide.
Mr. Kahan holds a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from the State University of New York at Binghamton and an MBA in International Business and Finance from the New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business. He taught as an adjunct professor at NYU for five years and recently sat on the board of directors for the Direct Marketing Association. From 2002 to 2008, he served as chairman of the Board of BPA Worldwide, a leading business to business media audit firm.
