Tech company SAP has named Sean Epstein as its global head of private equity. Previously, Epstein led SAP’s private equity team in EMEA and Greater China as well as the global private equity M&A program. He joined SAP in 2007.
Sean Epstein has been appointed to the role of Global Head of SAP Private Equity, responsible for all Private Equity and M&A programs. The SAP Private Equity team is considered the industry-leading benchmark for how technology companies create top-down, one-to-many partnerships with the owners, shareholders, and ultimate decision-makers on the boards of PE backed companies.
Prior to assuming this new position, Sean led SAP’s Private Equity team in EMEA and Greater China as well as the global PE M&A program. Sean was a member of the team which set up the SAP Private Equity function in 2009 and has experience with each of SAP’s global private equity markets.
He joined SAP in 2007 as a member of the Value Engineering team and later helped create and co-lead the Global Value Academy. Before joining SAP, Sean was an executive advisor and general manager at the Corporate Executive Board (now Gartner). He spent his early career working in a variety of roles in private equity, venture capital, and strategy consulting in San Francisco, New York, Tokyo, and London.
Sean is a frequent speaker, guest lecturer, and ad hoc writer focused on the impact of technology on M&A and private equity. He has an MBA from Columbia Business School and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. Sean resides in Arlington, Virginia.
