The Carlyle Group has closed its second North American middle-market buyout fund at its $2.4 billion hard cap.
The Carlyle Equity Opportunity Fund II is planning on making investments between $20 million and $200 million per company.
The previous fund, which focused on smaller buyouts, raised $1.1 billion in 2012. No data was available on the fund’s performance.
Carlyle said it has invested $7.3 billion in 91 mid-market buyout deals in nearly three decades. Among the companies in this space the firm has backed are AxleTech International Holdings Inc, a maker of automotive components; ECi Software Solutions, a provider of enterprise resource planning and business applications; and Coalfire, a provider of cyber-risk and compliance services.
