Press Release

FIRSTavenue, a leading global private placement agent and advisory firm, is pleased to announce the final closing of Actis Energy III with total commitments of $1.15 billion. The fund was oversubscribed and surpassed its initial target of $750 million by fifty percent. Fund commitments were obtained from existing investors and also attracted a diverse group of new investors, including public pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and family offices from North America, Europe and Asia. FIRSTavenue served as the sole global placement agent for the fund.

“We would like to congratulate Actis. The energy team’s expertise combined with the Actis pedigree intrigued investors. With high demand for electricity in emerging markets, the team has already made commitments of $560 million from Fund III and has a strong pipeline of opportunities. We wish them continued success,” commented Paul Buckley, Founder and Managing Partner of FIRSTavenue.

“This successful fundraising, in collaboration with FIRSTavenue, is a sign of confidence from our investors in our focused strategy,” commended Torbjorn Caesar, Co-Head of Energy at Actis. “Electricity in the emerging markets faces high demand growth but remains a scarce commodity in Latin America, Asia and Africa. We provide access to the resulting investment opportunity with a proven approach. Such is the demand, especially in the renewables space, that the team has already put half of the new fund to work.”
