Adam Gale has joined Chadbourne & Parke LLP as counsel in the law firm’s corporate practice, with a focus on investment company and fund formation. He previously was with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
The international law firm of Chadbourne & Parke LLP today announced that Adam Gale has joined the Firm as counsel in the corporate practice. He will be located in the Firm’s New York office.
Mr. Gale will focus on providing regulatory and compliance advice to, and formation and structuring of, hedge funds, private equity funds, broker-dealers and registered investment companies. He will represent start-ups and existing companies. Mr. Gale, 43, came to Chadbourne from the New York office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.

Mr. Gale has also advised on issues relating to the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Investment Advisers Act, the Commodity Exchange Act and Regulation D, and anti-money laundering regulations, including OFAC and the USA PATRIOT Act.
At Orrick, Mr. Gale was a member of that firm’s Private Investment Funds Group and the Market Regulation Group, serving as of counsel. Prior to joining Orrick, he was senior counsel at The Bank of New York, advising the bank’s hedge fund, investment adviser and broker-dealer subsidiaries on regulatory and compliance issues. He also worked at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP for 10 years, focusing on regulatory and compliance matters, SEC investigations and securities litigation.
Mr. Gale received a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1991, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and Writing and Research Editor of Columbia Law Review. He also received a B.A. from Cornell University in 1987 where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Mr. Gale was a law clerk for Judge Wilfred Feinberg of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1991 to 1992, and for U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson of the Middle District of Alabama from 1992 to 1993.
