Alvarez & Marsal adds Mota as MD for Brazilian team

Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Paulo Mota as a managing director to its global transaction advisory group in Brazil. Previously, Mota was a partner at KPMG in São Paulo, Brazil.


SÃO PAULO – September 24, 2018 – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced the addition of Paulo Mota as a Managing Director to its Global Transaction Advisory Group in Brazil. Mr. Mota’s international experience and deep understanding of Brazilian private equity (PE) firms and corporates will augment A&M’s regional offering in Latin America while meeting clients’ cross-border M&A needs.

Mr. Mota brings more than 20 years of experience serving in leadership positions within the financial advisory area, including financial due diligence, valuation and M&A lead advisory, in sectors such as healthcare (hospital, clinics and medical devices), technology, private equity firms, education, automotive and specialized services.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Mota was a Partner at KPMG based in São Paulo, Brazil. In that role, he supported fundraising for early stage companies and projects and advised on deal structuring and the valuation of companies. Mr. Mota was also part of KPMG’s Transaction Services group, where he led due diligence projects in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, United Kingdom, and throughout Europe.

Mr. Mota earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Salvador and a graduate degree in private equity and structured finance from Instituto de Empresas in Madrid. He also completed the Executive Development Program at Fundação Dom Cabral. Mr. Mota is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
