As reported by Reuters, the non-disclosed acquisition by technology giant Apple Inc. of Toronto-based startup Locationary, a management and exchange platform for local business places information, provides investment exits to a number of Canadian venture capital firms. Among the company’s investors are MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund, managed by MaRS Discovery District, and Trellis Capital Corp., which invested $2.5 million in Locationary in July 2011. Joining in that deal were existing investors Extreme Venture Partners and Plazacorp Ventures, as well as angel investors. Locationary was founded in 2010.
