NewSpring has made an undisclosed investment in Parsippany, New Jersey-based Atlantic Metro, a managed IT infrastructure service provider. Q Advisors LLC served as financial adviser to Atlantic Metro. In conjunction with the transaction, Anne Vazquez will join Atlantic Metro's board of directors.
UK-based Replimune, a developer of oncolytic immunotherapy, has closed $55 million in Series B financing. Foresite Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Bain Capital Life Sciences, Redmile Group, Cormorant Asset Management, Leerink Partners, Atlas Venture, Forbion Capital Partners and Omega Funds. In addition to the funding, Dr. Brett Zbar of Foresite Capital and Dr. Kapil Dhingr, the former head of clinical oncology at Roche, will join Replimune's board of directors.
One Rock Capital Partners LLC has agreed to acquire foam producer FXI from MatlinPatterson Global Advisers LLC and Black Diamond Capital Management L.L.C. No financial terms were disclosed. The deal is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2017. Jefferies LLC and Rothschild Inc served as M&A advisers to FXI while Sullivan & Cromwell LLP provided legal counsel. And, Hogan Lovells US LLP was legal counsel to One Rock on the transaction.
PRP and GFH have sold Atlanta-based Ansley at Princeton Lakes, a multifamily property, for $43.5 million. The buyer was not identified. The property was originally built by PRP in 2009 and recapitalized in November 2014 for $35.2 million.
Asia-focused investment bank BDA Partners and Development Bank of Japan have formed a partnership. According to terms of the deal, DBJ has acquired a 5 percent stake in BDA for an undisclosed sum. The partnership will focus on M&A advisory and fundraising deals connecting Japan with the rest of Asia, Europe and the U.S.
London-based investment management firm Albion Capital is targeting 38 million pounds in funding for its six venture capital trusts. Albion is seeking to raise 8 million pounds for Kings Arms Yard VCT and 6 million pounds for each of the firm's other VCTs. The VCTs will focus on growth companies in sectors that include digital healthcare, automation, digital security and data analytics.
Solace, which is backed by Bridge Growth Partners, has named Craig Betts as chairman of the board and Leslie Rechan as president and CEO. Betts is the founder of Solace while Rechan is the ex-president and CEO of Halogen Software. Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Solace is a provider of open data movement technology.
L Catterton Asia is leading a consortium to invest in South Korea-based Gentle Monster, an eyewear designer brand. Groupe Arnault is also participating in this investor group. No financial terms were disclosed.
BlackRock is in talks to acquire the private equity business of the largest public pension fund in the US, the California Public Employees' Retirement System, reported Bloomberg. Sources told the news outlet that BlackRock is weighing the possibility of overseeing some or all of CalPERS's $26.2 billion private equity investments. Right now, the talks are still in the preliminary stage. According to Bloomberg, a key reason for CalPERS's possible sale of its private equity business is to "control fees and offset anemic returns."
