The Carlyle Group has acquired Winnipeg, Manitoba-based Arctic Glacier, a maker of packaged ice. The sellers included H.I.G. Capital. No financial terms were disclosed. Credit Suisse, Ernst & Young LLP, Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Latham & Watkins LLP advised Carlyle while Piper Jaffray and Ropes & Gray LLP advised the sellers.
Ardian has agreed to take a majority stake in France-based Prosol, the founder of the fresh food retailer Grand Frais. No financial terms were disclosed.
Maroon Peak Capital has raised almost $50 million for its seventh private equity fund, according to an SEC filing. No target was specified in the document.
Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services, a portfolio company of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice and Safway Group, which is backed by Odyssey Investment Partners, have agreed to merge. No financial terms were disclosed. The combined entity will be an integrated industrial and commercial services company with CD&R holding the controlling stake. When the deal closes, Odyssey will exit Safway. Goldman Sachs served as lead financial adviser to Brand, with Barclays, ING Capital LLC and Peter J. Solomon Company, also providing additional financial advice. Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is legal adviser to Brand. And, Harris Williams & Co is serving as financial adviser to Safway.

Madison Dearborn Partners has agreed to make an investment in Atlanta-based U.S. Lumber Group LLC, a provider of specialty building products in the Eastern U.S. No financial terms were disclosed. RBC Capital Markets LLC and Dentons advised U.S. Lumber on the transaction while Kirkland & Ellis LLP advised MDP.
Kuwait investment Opportunities Fund has sold its Elaj Medical Services KSCC to a consortium of doctors. No financial terms were disclosed. NBK Capital advised the fund on the transaction while Meysan Partners provided the legal counsel. EMS owns Taiba Hospital in Kuwait.
FactSet has acquired BISAM Technologies S.A., a provider of software for asset managers that helps them evaluate and enhance their investment strategies for clients. The sellers included Aquiline Capital Partners. The price of the acquisition was $205.2 million. Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP represented BISAM and the sellers led by Aquiline on the deal.
3i Group has launched its North American infrastructure business. Rob Collins has joined 3i to lead the business as managing partner of North America infrastructure. Previously, Collins worked at Hastings Funds Management where he served as head of global investments in North America and Europe.
