AXA makes second software purchase of the year

French private equity house AXA Private Equity has acquired a 25% interest in French software producer, GOTO Software.

The Lille-based company, which was founded in 1982, has racked up sales growth of 40% over the last four years.

It is split into three divisions: Vade Retro, anti-spam software designed for businesses and internet service providers; Sarbacane, an electronic communication program to enable small and medium-sized companies to manage mass mailings; and online software for people who want to learn and play bridge via Funbridge.

It is AXA PE’s second deal of the year and also it’s second foray into the software market. The Paris-based firm acquired 16.7% of Lusis, a software components and related services company providing critical systems used in finance, transport and telecoms.
