Baird aims at lower mid-market UK deals with 2nd European buyout fund

Firm: Baird Capital

Fund: Baird Capital Partners Europe II LP

Target: N/A

Amount raised: $99 Million

Baird Capital Partners Europe II LP from Chicago-based Baird Capital is targeting companies with an enterprise value of $25 million to about $82 million and a focus on the UK, according to a person familiar with the firm.

Baird Capital has already completed four investments from the fund: SGX Sensortech, SR Group, Alpha Consulting and Watkins Hire.

J.P. Morgan is an LP in the fund, according to a source.

The vintage 2004 Baird Capital Partners Europe I focused on the UK and Germany as the inaugural fund in the series. But it’s not a direct predecessor to the new fund since the earlier vehicle resulted from a restructuring that followed a 2000 purchase from another firm.

Baird Capital’s flagship fund is Baird Capital Partners V, which raised about $300 million. The last Form D for that buyout pool was made on Feb. 8, 2011.
