Bert Koth Joins Denham Capital

Bert Koth has joined the London office of Denham Capital Management, where he will focus on opportunities within the global mining sector. He previously worked on M&A and business development with mining company BHP Billiton.

Denham Capital Management LP (“Denham”), a leading energy- and commodities-focused global private equity firm, today announces the appointment of Bert Koth to its London office focusing on opportunities within the global mining sector. Koth will join Dr. Louis van Pletsen, Partner and Head of Denham’s London Office, and Managing Partner Carl Tricoli, who is responsible for the firm’s global Natural Resources investments including oil and gas, coal, metals and mineral mining, timber, agriculture and water, in working primarily on mining investments worldwide.

 

Mr. Koth has over 12 years’ experience in originating and executing transactions in the global resources industry. He joins Denham from the world’s largest mining company, BHP Billiton, after four years working on M&A, Strategy and Business Development activities. In this role he was involved in a wide range of transactions including the proposed acquisition of Rio Tinto and a range of other deals including a joint venture with Norilsk Nickel, the acquisition of BHP Billiton’s 33.3% stake in the Sangaredi Alumina refinery project in Guinea from TSX listed mining company Global Alumina, and a joint venture with Indonesian nickel producer Antam. Prior to BHP Billiton, Mr. Koth was Vice President in the Metals and Mining team at Deutsche Bank, London and an associate at ING Barings in Amsterdam and Johannesburg. He holds a PhD in Accounting and Corporate Finance and a Graduate Degree in Business Administration from the University of Economics, Vienna.
