Bertram Promotes Ruger and Yamashita to Partner

Bertram Capital, a San Mateo PE shop, has promoted Jared Ruger and Kevin Yamashita to partner. Bertram made the announcements in separate releases. Ruger is founding member of Bertram and was formerly with Oak Hill Capital Management. Yamashita was previously with Calera Capital.


Jared Ruger, a founding member of Bertram Capital’s investment team, has been promoted to Partner. Jared leads deal execution and portfolio company management in the business services sector. He oversees the firm’s investment in Author Solutions (, where he serves on the Board of Directors. Author Solutions is the foremost player in the self-publishing industry, representing one of every 15 book titles published in the US every year.

Prior to Bertram, Jared was with Oak Hill Capital Management where he evaluated investment opportunities across a broad range of industries. Prior to Oak Hill, Jared worked as a generalist in the Investment Banking group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Jared earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and BA in Economics from Princeton University, cum laude.


Bertram Capital announced today the promotion of Kevin Yamashita  to Partner. Kevin has closed five transactions in his three year tenure at Bertram Capital and leads the firm’s investment activity in the industrial sector.

Kevin Yamashita joined Bertram in 2007 and oversees two of Bertram Capital’s portfolio companies: PDI (, the leading designer and manufacturer of power distribution equipment for the North America data center market, and TydenBrooks (, the principal manufacturer of single use cargo seals, utility meter products and accessories and product marking equipment. Kevin is a board member of both companies.

Prior to Bertram, Kevin was with Calera Capital (formerly Fremont Partners) where he evaluated companies in consumer products, retail, healthcare, building products and general industrials. Kevin has also held positions with TPG Capital, the Yucaipa Companies and the Investment Banking division of Salomon Smith Barney. Kevin graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles, summa cum laude.
