PRESS RELEASE

Robert M. Friedland, Chairman of Ivanhoe Capital Corporation, today announced the appointment of prominent U.S. attorney and former Massachusetts Governor William (Bill) F. Weld as an international business adviser to the Ivanhoe group of companies, specializing in political and government relations.

“I am extremely pleased that Bill has agreed to join our team and bring his exceptional depth of experience and knowledge to the Ivanhoe group of companies,” Mr. Friedland said. “Bill’s career in law and government service, bipartisan approach to public policy making, success as a trade group leader and his strong credentials in the political arena make him a natural choice to help Ivanhoe Capital and its affiliated companies make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead as global markets are reinvigorated through economic renewal and restructuring.”

Mr. Weld will continue to be based in New York City, where he became a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery in 1997. His practice has been focused on government strategies, corporate investigations and compliance, energy and private equity.

As Governor of Massachusetts between 1990 and 1997, he was credited with improving the business climate in the state and led business and trade missions to many countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa.

Prior to his terms as governor, Mr. Weld was a U.S. federal prosecutor for seven years, serving as the Assistant U.S. Attorney General in charge of the Criminal Division of the Justice Department in Washington, D.C., and as the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts during the Reagan administration. He was a securities and anti-trust litigator in Boston for 12 years.

Mr. Weld also was a partner with the New York Private Equity firm Leeds Weld and Co. between 2001 and 2005 (the firm became Leeds Equity Partners when he left in 2005).

Earlier in his career, Mr. Weld served in Washington as a staff member for the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Mr. Weld is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He graduated from Harvard College in 1966, studied economics at University College, Oxford, and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1970.
