Rose Capital, a cannabis-focused investment firm, has closed its debut fund at $55 million. Rose Capital Fund I will focus on backing cannabis operators in the following sectors: consumer packaged goods; data and analytics; distribution and logistics; and ancillary products.
GREENWICH, CT – NOVEMBER 29, 2018 – Rose Capital, a Greenwich, Connecticut-based investment firm, has announced the final closing of Rose Capital Fund I, LP (the “Fund”). The Fund closed oversubscribed and ahead of schedule, with investor demand exceeding the mandated maximum capacity of $55 million. At closing, the Fund was almost entirely deployed, with all remaining capital earmarked for near-term deployment.
The Fund was formed to further Rose Capital’s existing investment footprint in global cannabis, as the strategic capital partner to its suite of best-in-class operators. It was designed to underpin a “buy and build” strategy to consolidate nascent best-in-class operating assets, while aligning the most sophisticated operating platforms within a synergistic ecosystem. Through the Fund, Rose Capital has continued its on-going deployment across the verticals of (1) Consumer Packaged Goods, (2) Data & Analytics, (3) Distribution & Logistics, and (4) Ancillary Products. Since Rose Capital’s inception, its Principals have vetted hundreds of cannabis operations to amalgamate its existing portfolio of more than a dozen industry leading platforms. The Fund was structured as a long-term value and control-oriented investment vehicle. The Fund, as part of its strategy, does not invest directly into cultivation or retail licensing due to perceived short-and-medium-term commoditization risk.
Alongside of closing the Fund, Rose Capital is furthering its reach into the global cannabis sector through the launch of a subsequent investment vehicle, with the specified focus of continued brand consolidation around Rose’s existing Consumer Packaged Goods footprint. Rose Capital remains disciplined in adhering to its investment philosophy and will utilize this subsequent vehicle in its commitment to generating outsized returns for all of its partners. Rose Capital currently manages approximately $100 million, and, upon execution of its existing pipeline, expects to have capital under management in excess of $200 million by 2019 year-end.
