Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. named Garett Stoffels and Steven Tuch as Co-Head of its Private Capital Group within the firm’s Investment Banking department. Stoffels was managing director at Bear Stearns. Tuch was managing director at Deutsche Bank.
Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. announced today that Garett Stoffels and Steven Tuch have joined Cantor to Co-Head its Private Capital Group within the firm’s Investment Banking department. Mr. Stoffels, formerly a Managing Director at Bear Stearns, and Steven Tuch, formerly a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank, will jointly lead the firm’s efforts in originating, structuring, and raising private capital for alternative investment funds and investment vehicles as well as public and private companies. The Private Capital Group acted as a financial advisor to Cantor Commercial Real Estate Company, L.P. (CCRE) in connection with the structuring of CCRE, a real estate financing business that announced its formation on August 11, 2010.
“Cantor is well positioned to become a dominant player in capital raising for alternative investment funds and private placements. Our team expects to tap into Cantor’s existing global network in order to drive new origination and distribution of private securities.”
“Garett and Steven bring a deep understanding of private capital markets and strong relationships with capital providers developed over a long history in investment banking,” said Steven Kantor, Global Head of Investment Banking. “This team has a great reputation and an extensive track record in executing capital markets business. I believe they will enable Cantor to better serve small and middle-market companies, alternative investment fund managers and investors.”
“Over the last two years, private capital fundraising for middle-market opportunities has been deemphasized at the bulge-bracket banks,” said Mr. Tuch. “This important area of fundraising is a natural extension of Cantor’s strong global distribution capabilities.”
Mr. Stoffels added, “Cantor is well positioned to become a dominant player in capital raising for alternative investment funds and private placements. Our team expects to tap into Cantor’s existing global network in order to drive new origination and distribution of private securities.”
Mr. Stoffels joined Cantor Fitzgerald from Atlantic-Pacific Capital, where he served as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Direct Private Placements. Prior to APC, Mr. Stoffels was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Group of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., where he provided capital raising and M&A advisory services to clients. Mr. Stoffels received an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he was a Fuqua Scholar, and a BA with Highest Honors in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Mr. Tuch joined Cantor Fitzgerald from Atlantic-Pacific Capital, where he served as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Direct Private Placements. Prior to APC, Mr. Tuch was a Managing Director in the Equity Capital Markets Group at Deutsche Bank, where his roles included Global Head of Private Equity Placements.
