CVC Adds Two Financial Services Advisors

Bob Jenkins and Jim Sutcliffe have joined CVC Capital Partners as senior advisors, with a focus on the financial services sector. Jenkins is the former chairman and CEO of F&C Asset Management, while Sutcliffe was CEO of Old Mutual PLC.

CVC Capital Partners (“CVC”), a leading global private equity firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert (“Bob”) Jenkins and Jim Sutcliffe as Senior Advisors to CVC, with immediate effect. Bob and Jim will become members of CVC’s Global Financial Institutions Advisory Board to support CVC’s activities in the financial services sector.

Bob Jenkins was previously CEO and Chairman of F&C Asset Management plc and prior to that spent sixteen years at Citibank and five years at Credit Suisse holding senior executive positions. Since 2007, Bob has served as Chairman of the UK Investment Management Association and also co-chairs the Chancellor’s High Level Group on the future direction of the UK’s asset management industry. He is currently CEO and Managing Partner of Combinatorics Capital, LLC, a global macro hedge fund manager.

Jim Sutcliffe has spent more than thirty years in the insurance and asset management industry, most recently as Group Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual Plc. At Old Mutual he built a FTSE 100 company from its South African base, organically and through acquisitions in the US, Europe and Asia, with a high performance asset management business at its core. Prior to Old Mutual, Jim was Deputy Chairman of Liberty International plc and has also held a number of senior posts with Prudential plc including Chief Executive of Prudential UK.

About Robert Jenkins
Mr Jenkins recently retired from the Board of F&C Asset Management, plc where he served as CEO for seven years and Chairman for a further four years. During his tenure, F&C was transformed from a privately held, British-centric boutique into a significant, pan-European London stock exchange listed group.

Prior to F&C, Mr. Jenkins spent sixteen years at Citibank and five years at Credit Suisse in a variety of senior executive positions.

Since 2007, Mr. Jenkins has served as Chairman of the UK Investment Management Association (IMA). The IMA is the trade body representing over 175 investment management firms. He serves as a member of the UK Panel on Takeovers and Mergers and co-chairs the Chancellor’s High Level Group on the future direction of the UK’s asset management industry. He is also currently CEO and Managing Partner of Combinatorics Capital, LLC. Combinatorics is a New York based, global macro hedge fund manager.

Mr. Jenkins attended university in the US, France and Italy. He holds a Masters degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, Washington, D.C.

About James Sutcliffe
Until the middle of 2008 Mr Sutcliffe was Group CEO of Old Mutual plc the FTSE-100 International Life Insurance and Asset Management Company with 55,000 employees and over £1bn of operating profit. As Group CEO he both strengthened the South African insurance and banking business and grew the business internationally in the US, Europe and Asia. During his time, Old Mutual undertook a number of successful acquisitions including the £4bn acquisition of Skandia in 2006 and grew assets under management to over £250bn.

Prior to Old Mutual, Mr. Sutcliffe was Deputy Chairman of Liberty International plc and also had a long and successful career at Prudential plc holding a number of senior positions including Chief Executive of Prudential UK.

Mr. Sutcliffe is also currently a non-Executive Director of Lonmin plc and Sun Life of Canada as well as being a Director of the Financial Reporting Council.

He has a degree from the University of Cape Town and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
