PRESS RELEASE

David G. Pommerening, a corporate deal lawyer with substantial experience in M&A and private equity matters, has joined Baker Botts L.L.P. as a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department. He will be based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office and will lead that office’s corporate transactional practice.

Pommerening’s practice involves the representation of both foreign and domestic clients in mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and commercial and financial transactions. In addition to his transactional practice, he provides strategic counseling and regularly advises clients on general corporate governance and compliance matters. Prior to joining Baker Botts, he was a partner with O’Melveny & Myers LLP in its Washington, D.C. office.

“Dave enhances the collective expertise of our Corporate Department and adds depth to the transaction practice in our Washington office,” said Baker Botts Managing Partner Walt Smith. “His expertise and reputation in M&A and private equity will reinforce our ability to expand our client base in these key areas.”

Pommerening has represented both buyers and sellers in acquisitions and dispositions of public and private companies in the health care, defense, communications and hospitality industries. He has also advised clients on asset transactions, corporate restructurings, joint ventures and various forms of corporate finance, as well as secured and unsecured bank financings. “We are pleased that Dave chose to bring his broad knowledge of transactional and private equity matters to our firm,” said David Kirkland, chair of the Corporate Department at Baker Botts. “The addition of a senior lawyer with extensive experience in transactional work is a significant expansion of our corporate capabilities in our Washington office. Plus, Dave’s joining us comes at a strategic time, as recent government initiatives create new opportunities for D.C.-area companies and for increased private investment in Washington area businesses.”
