Debevoise & Plimpton appoints new counsel

Debevoise & Plimpton has appointed Andrew C. Goldberg and W. David Sarratt to the firm as counsel as members of the private equity funds and investment management groups, and the litigation department, respectively. They will be based in the New York office.

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP today announced that Andrew C. Goldberg and W. David Sarratt have joined the firm as counsel in its New York office as members of the Private Equity Funds and Investment Management Groups, and the Litigation Department, respectively.

Andrew C. Goldberg originally joined Debevoise in 2004 and most recently was of counsel in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Investment Funds practice group. He advises investment banks, financial institutions and boutique firms sponsoring private investment funds, including buyout, mezzanine, energy and infrastructure, real estate, oil and gas, emerging markets, co-investment and secondary funds, as well as funds of funds. Through the course of his career, Mr. Goldberg has worked with an impressive list of private equity clients. He received a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2002 and a B.S. from Yeshiva University, summa cum laude, in 1999.

David Sarratt joins Debevoise’s Litigation Department as its ninth former Assistant U.S. Attorney, having served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York in the Criminal Division from 2010 to 2014. As a prosecutor, he successfully tried seven cases to verdict and one case to a mid-trial guilty plea. He was previously an associate with Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel, P.L.L.C. in Washington, D.C. from 2006 to 2010. Mr. Sarratt received a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was an Articles Editor for the Virginia Law Review, and a B.A., with distinction, from the University of Virginia. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable John Gleeson, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, from 2005 to 2006, and to the Honorable Douglas H. Ginsburg, U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, from 2004 to 2005.
