Ferraris named CEO of PE-backed Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli S.p.A. said July 28 that it named Gian Giacomo Ferraris as CEO of the company. He replaces Renato Semerari who left the CEO rule due “divergences on the company’s development strategy,” a statement said. Francesco Trapani has also resigned as Chairman of Robert Cavalli and will step down on Sept. 10. Clessidra, an Italian private equity firm, acquired Roberto Cavalli, an Italian fashion house, in April 2015.

During today’s meeting, the Board of Directors of Roberto Cavalli S.p.A. appointed Gian Giacomo Ferraris as CEO of the company.
Upon indication of Roberto Cavalli’s shareholders Clessidra, Roberto Cavalli, L-Gam and Chow
Tai Fook Enterprises, the appointment of Gian Giacomo Ferraris follows Renato Semerari’s
decision to leave the CEO role due to divergences on the company’s development strategy.
Francesco Trapani, as part of the wider agreement that will see him leave Clessidra in the second
half of September once Italmobiliare – the new controlling shareholders of Clessidra -has received
all the necessary regulatory authorisations, has handed in his resignation as Chairman of Roberto
Cavalli. Mr Trapani will officially step down from his position in Roberto Cavalli on September 10th .

Gian Giacomo Ferraris is considered one of the most experienced executives within the
international fashion and luxury goods industry. An engineering graduate, in addition to the
important managerial experiences at Gucci and at the Prada Group, Mr Ferraris is particularly
renowned for the projects handled at Jil Sander and Versace, where he personally oversaw their
turnaround and development processes, creating substantial value at both maisons.
