Mitchell Caplan has joined Aquiline Capital Partners as an executive advisor, focused on the retail financial services sector. He previously was CEO of E*Trade Financial Corp.

Aquiline Capital Partners LLC (“Aquiline”), a New York-based private equity firm investing in financial services, today announced that Mitchell H. Caplan has joined the firm as an Executive Advisor. Mr. Caplan, who has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently serving as Chief Executive Officer and Director of E*TRADE Financial Corporation, will be assisting Aquiline in evaluating global opportunities in the retail financial services sector.

Mr. Caplan joined E*TRADE Financial Corporation in 2000 when it acquired Telebank, which subsequently became E*TRADE Bank. Before joining E*TRADE, Mr. Caplan served as Vice Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Telebank and Telebanc Financial Corporation. Prior to forming Telebank, Mr. Caplan was an associate of the law firm of Shearman & Sterling LLP.
