PRESS RELEASE
August 22, 2013; Vancouver, BC
Glacier Media Group (GMG) and Daily Dose Media Inc (DDM) announced today that GMG has acquired VitaminDaily.com, Canada’s premier online lifestyle magazine for women, published by DDM.
VitaminDaily.com joins GMG’s substantial holdings in both print and digital media, which include Social Shopper, Business in Vancouver, The Vancouver Courier and The North Shore News. GMG acquired the Times Colonist, the Lower Mainland Publishing Group and the Vancouver Island Newspaper Group and associated assets from PostMedia Network Inc. in 2011.
“We are thrilled to welcome VitaminDaily.com into our stable to provide fresh, local, female-focused content to our network, says Alvin Brouwer, President of Lower Mainland Publishing at GMG. “They have been pioneers in the growing field of native advertising and their expertise and relationships will be valuable as we continue to innovate in the digital space.”
Founded in 2004 by Sarah Bancroft and Tara Parker Tait, the VitaminDaily.com digital publishing platform has grown to six editions (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal (English and French) and Moms & Kids) delivering over half a million newsletters a week to upwardly-mobile Canadian women.
Says VitaminDaily.com editor-in-chief Sarah Bancroft, “As an independent media company we have experienced tremendous growth over the past year and this new partnership will allow us to leverage and accelerate that growth on a much larger scale than we could have with private capital. We chose to partner with Glacier Media Group as we see them as a forward thinking and entrepreneurial company that shares many of our core values. Together we have developed a growth strategy that includes talent acquisition and innovation in the video and web-native advertising opportunities.”
Bancroft will continue to act as VitaminDaily’s Editor in Chief and president, while co-founder Tait will focus exclusively on her growing public relations firm, Tara Parker Tait PR. VitaminDaily will retain its staff and head office in Vancouver.
