HCAP Partners promotes Mago to principal

San Diego-based HCAP Partners promoted Hope Mago to principal. Mago joined the firm, formerly named Huntington Capital, in 2009 from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.



HCAP Partners (formerly Huntington Capital), a San Diego based mezzanine debt and private equity fund, has announced the promotion of Hope Mago to the position of Principal in the firm. HCAP Partners finances high-potential, growing companies in the areas of manufacturing, services, software, and healthcare that are located in the western United States.

Hope has been a key member of the HCAP investment team since 2009 and is responsible for the origination and analysis of new investment opportunities, investment due diligence, deal underwriting, and investment monitoring. He has also led the development of HCAP Partners impact investing initiatives and has been a key contributor to the firm’s recognition as an Impact Assets Top 50 fund for three years running. Hope is a board observer on several of the firm’s portfolio companies and has been actively involved in many of these companies, including RJE International, Mission Senior Living, Cubex, Noribachi, PriMetrica, and CNC Data.

Prior to joining HCAP Partners, Hope worked as an analyst at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. He received his IMBA from the University of San Diego and holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and banking from the University of Zimbabwe.
